Alison Westerkamm, Psy.D., HSPP

Dr. Alison Westerkamm is a licensed psychologist, whose background is in both clinical and educational psychology. She completed her doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Indianapolis and her Master’s and Educational Specialist degrees at Indiana State University. She has worked in schools, early childhood programs, community mental health, hospital settings, and private practice. With a background in psychological and psychoeducational testing, Dr. Alison relies on a multimodal, strengths-based paradigm in the assessment of cognitive, behavioral, emotional, social, and academic problems. Dr. Alison is passionate for helping children, adults and families navigate life’s stressors and mental health challenges, using a collaborative, solution-focused, and compassionate therapeutic approach. After meeting with a new client or client’s parents for a detailed intake and history, she designs a treatment plan unique to each individual utilizing cognitive-behavioral and dialectical behavioral techniques, therapeutic stories and art therapy, sensory-based interventions, narrative and interpersonal therapy, and trauma-informed care. Dr. Alison has experience working with children and adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, autism, ADHD, developmental delays, learning disabilities, PTSD, grief and loss, and adjustment difficulties. Through parent-child sessions, she also provides guidance to families on effective parenting techniques, behavioral management, and developing positive communication. Dr. Alison is a married, mother of three children. She loves spending time with her beloved family and doodle, working in her yard, and collecting sea shells at the beach.
