Faizah Mawusi, LCSW

Faizah Mawusi is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 18 years of experience working with teens and women in complex, stressful and often traumatic life stages and events such as teen pregnancy, parenting small children, relationship trauma, and sexual identity.  Faizah is committed to the mental health and well-being of her clients.

Faizah’s motto:  “As a woman thinketh in her heart…so is she.”  Faizah approaches individual therapy as an opportunity for individuals to examine their hearts, challenge their thoughts, and change their non-productive behaviors.

Faizah graduated from Loyola University in Chicago, IL in 1996 with a Master’s Degree in Social Work.  Faizah has had much success with individuals in one-one therapy sessions in the areas of self-identity, coping skills, depressive symptoms and trauma.  Faizah has positive impact on family systems in the areas of behavioral interventions, parenting skill building, and creating family traditions and routines.

Faizah was voted Social Worker of the Year in Illinois in 1997 for her pioneer work in urban, wrap-around services in the city of Chicago.  Faizah is a certified community organizer and certified Peer Coach for small business owners.  Faizah’s former clients say she is “easy to talk do”, “no judgment felt”, and “she helped me make different choices without beating me up.”

Faizah is the mother of two and grandmother of three.  When not spending time with family, friends, or clients, Faizah enjoys gardening, neighborhood organizing, and social justice advocacy in the same gender loving community of Indiana.
